Cosmetic Computer Imaging

In order for you as a patient to be comfortable with a cosmetic procedure, you need to be shown what can realistically be achieved through surgery. That is the simple concept behind computer imaging. Through the use of a state-of-the-art computer technology, you can now preview achievable surgical results before surgery.

The process is simple. Your images are captured on the computer with a digital camera. You actively participate as Dr. Glassman changes the image of your current appearance to a representative postoperative outcome.

Because you will be able to see yourself "before" and "after," you will be a much better candidate for surgery. The pre-operative imaging session gives you a more realistic expectation about results and thus greater peace of mind. Dr. Glassman also benefits by gaining a clear sense of your needs and expectations. Your images are stored in our computer for future reference and can be printed for use in planning your surgery or they may be sent home with you.

When this technology was first introduced, there was concern that it would create unreasonable expectations. It is Dr. Glassman's vast experience which allows him to make changes on the computer which are realistic. Our new computer software is written specially to demonstrate natural anticipated results rather than an idealized image with absolutely "no wrinkles."

Preoperative computer demonstrations are not a guarantee of the surgical outcome. Factors such as wound healing and tissue compliance may affect the actual surgical result; however, now, you can see what Dr. Glassman wants to achieve in your case. Dr. Glassman has found that the patient who is shown computer imaging will better understand the surgical procedure as well as the technical and anatomic considerations involved.

Plastic surgery is not a process you should undergo without first considering all of its ramifications. Computer imaging can help you decide whether it is right for you. Your imaging session is an opportunity to fully communicate your desires for your appearance. Imaging is about communication, and in cosmetic surgery, communication is the most indispensable tool of all.
